Soil testing helps to identify nutrient-related issues, allowing for strategic and efficient application of nutrients for crop growth and reducing the potential for over or under-application, thus minimising cost and environmental risk.
It is recommended you soil test each field every three to four years, or you may wish to do this at any point to diagnose nutrient-related plant growth issues.
Our regular series tests phosphorus, potassium, pH, % organic matter, and estimated texture. Additional tests can be requested to meet your farm needs from basic pH in-field tests to macronutrients and slurry analysis.
Our service includes a detailed report by field, including recommendations for applications to improve your soil health.
Yes! We work closely with Agronomists from Agrii and Agrovista to support their Teams with a local soil testing service. S&S Agricultural Liming have dedicated Soil Testers across the region, who understand the importance of precise sampling for accurate and reliable results. We have ATVs onboard with field note technology for efficiency on farm.

We take 10-15 cores per field then package this together typically about 350g.
All soil samples are grouped by field or land parcel and quickly despatched to our partner laboratories to test and benchmark the soil health and structure.
Yes – with care. We can use tramlines to move around the field and take samples without disturbing crops, although this may not be as accurate as our standard pattern or hectare gridding.
Yes, our Team are experienced at working on farm, and there is minimal disruption to the ground from each core.
Yes, the Sustainable Farming (SFI) action CSAM1; rewards landowners to assess soil, produce a soil management plan and test soil organic matter. Our Whole Farm Service spreads the cost of testing and any nutrient application across a three or four year cycle, while supporting the requirements of the CSAM1.

If lime or gypsum is required, S&S can offer an end-to-end service from sourcing the product to transport and to GPS assisted variable spreading.
If other application is required e.g. fertilizer your report will enable you to place an accurate order with your supplier.
To enable the application of the correct products according to the soil type of your land, it is important to have up to date representation of the soil and its variations across each specific field. Our GPS field mapping will show you the quantity needed and - most importantly - exactly where product needs to be applied. Our Contracted Spreading Team are fitted with GPS equipment capable of reading the spread programme created by our GPS mapping service.
We are also able to use spread programmes commissioned elsewhere. If this is the case, can contact the supplier and request the program in a format that is suitable for our machines, this means we arrive on farm with the spread programme loaded and ready to go.
